at The Yard adventure playground on Governor's Island

from ~10:00am at the BBP Pier 6 ferry stop

to ~1:00pm on Governors Island

Please, NO GIFTS—but also, PLEASE, we would be so grateful if you could take many photos theat include the birthday boy and we can all share images after the party!

NOTES ON PARTY STRUCTURE

A scooter may be helpful for the short walk from the ferry to The Yard.

Please sign your child's waiver in advance; low cell service there makes it difficult to do onsite.

Closed-toe shoes are required; dress your child in clothing that can get both wet and muddy, use layers for variable temperatures between ferry/Yard/party, and bring a change of clothing for afterward!

We will set up undercover/in the shade at a picnic area nearby so that your child can easily locate you. Snacks, refreshments and—of course—birthday cake will be served for both children and adults, and there are clean bathrooms directly next to The Yard.

Adults are NOT allowed inside The Yard.

CHILDREN'S SCHEDULE

10:45: "Before" group photo

10:50–11:50: Private access to The Yard for birthday guests only

11:50: Leave The Yard for "After" group photo, then snacks and birthday cake nearby!

anytime after 12:00: Public access to The Yard — birthday guests can return or leave or whatever parents choose

ADULTS' SCHEDULE

10:45: Help to take "Before" photos of clean, excited kids together

10:50–11:50: Eat bagels and snacks and drink mimosas while kids play alone. This is meant to be a break for you, so please take it!

11:50: Help to take "After" group photo, and other pics of filthy, happy kids eating snacks and birthday cake!

anytime after 12:00: Send kids back into The Yard and continue to hang child-free, take advantage of other fun on Governor's Island, or head home as you wish

INVITED GUESTS

Older siblings can hang outside in the food area during that 10:50-11:50 hour, and are invited to enter The Yard after 12 pm. We're currently at the guest limit for the private access time but can let you know if extra spaces for older siblings open up!

Younger siblings can play WITH AN ADULT in the family play area.

All children in the Smith Street Brooklyn Heights Moyenne Section class are invited, along with other outside friends, so feel free to coordinate travel plans within the class, etc.

The party will take place RAIN OR SHINE so please plan accordingly; please review The Yard's website for more details; and let us know here ASAP whether you can (or can’t) make it!
